We will taste through HALL Coeur, HALL Terra Secca, and HALL 1873 respectively. We will sample these three winery-only HALL wines made exclusively from fruit within those geographical categories before moving onto this iconic wine that famously speaks as an ambassador of the Napa Valley itself. By exploring the singular nature of these disparate distinctions of Napa Valley as they relate to the inimitable Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon, you will walk away with a better understanding of what is Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – and get to behold one of its shining stars.

It’s All About the Altitude for Colomé in Calchaquí Valley, Salta, Argentina

10–11am | The American Club® Marquette Bay
Presenter: Thibaut Delmotte, Winemaker at Bodega Colome

Taste the nuances and learn firsthand from Colomé’s winemaker the impact high-altitude has on wine in the glass. Founded in 1831, Bodega Colomé is the oldest continuously working winery in Argentina. Grapes for the Colomé wines are grown in four vineyards at four different altitudes ranging from 1,750 to 3,111 meters (5,740 to 10,200 feet) above sea level— incredible heights within one of the world’s very highest wine growing regions. At these altitudes, dramatic daily temperature swings cause grapes to develop a concentrated, natural acidity, and the fierce sun exposure encourages thicker, darker grape skins. These factors produce aromatic wines of intense color and flavors that also exhibit a natural freshness. Thibault Delmotte and his team manage this extreme microclimate with great expertise and patience. Along with altitude, time is the other critical ingredient in the making of Colomé wines. The team takes its time caring for the four vineyards with organic and biodynamic practices, giving the fruit time to ripen and mature in its natural environment, and supporting the high-altitude mystic energy that combines in the wines to reflect Salta’s splendor.
